The Somerset Surf Life Saving Club was established in 1969. Since then the club has held a strong history in promoting a healthy lifestyle, safety on the beach and a fun time for all ages.

The Somerset SLSC is a wonderful community group that was created as part of Surf Life Saving Australia's main water safety and rescue authority. SLSA is the largest volunteer organisation of its kind in the country with a mission to provide safe beach and aquatic environments throughout Australia.

The Somerset SLSC is one of 22 surf life saving clubs and services in Tasmania. Surf Life Saving Tasmania has over 3000 members and is aimed at providing life saving services for the community, working with youth to develop the leaders of tomorrow and engaging in healthy lifestyles and surf sports competition.

Our club is governed by both SLSA and SLST and we abide by SLSA policies and procedures. These can be aquired from the SLST website at http://www.slst.asn.au

Somerset SLSC, through its members, provides a range of services to Somerset and the wider community through such activites as patrols, rescues and school programs.

From December to March, the club provides beach patrols each Sunday and public holidays from the hours of 12 noon to 5pm and other special patrols for school's end of year celebrations held at Somerset Beach.

Although the club operates all year round, our busiest time is during the warmer weather, November to March. Our junior training program (Nippers) is run during these months with training usually being held on Wednesdays 5.00pm-6pm and Sundays 10pm-12pm.

Trainings for seniors are run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 5pm. See more information regarding training here

We are fortunate to have great facilities in a perfect location. Upstairs is licensed to hold 100 people and is available for hire for functions and meetings. Discounts are available to club members. Bookings can be made through the Club House Director (See Venue Hire Page).
