BECOME A SURF LIFE SAVER
Our surf lifesavers are trained male and female volunteers that patrol Somerset Beach on the weekends and public holidays throughout the summer. They undertake a number of roles including aquatic rescues, providing first aid and emergency care and providing surf safety information to the public.
Becoming a Somerset surf lifesaver is satisfying, fun and rewarding. You can lead a fit and healthy lifestyle, become trained in aquatic safety skills, make great friends, compete in surf carnivals and events, and give something back to the our community.
All capable and proficient Bronze and Lifesaving Certificate holders form our patrol crews who are rostered on regularly over the season. New members are allocated a patrol crew when they are qualified.
Each patrol has trained IRB drivers, crewmen, Bronze and Certificate holders all led by an experienced Patrol Captain. A new roster is prepared prior to each season after consultation with members. Check the patrol roster if you are already a patrolling member.
